François Mitterrand on the 1988 parliamentary elections

Address by François Mitterrand, two days after the second round of the 1988 parliamentary elections following the dissolution of the National Assembly. With this decision the President of the Republic wanted to put an end to cohabitation and strengthen his political majority. The results did not give the PS and its allies an absolute majority. He says: "Even relative, the parliamentary majority exists, it is strong, it is coherent, it will last".
