Pierre Overney, "Maoist", a militant of the proletarian Left, was killed at the Renault Billancourt factory by a factory guard. At a press conference, Georges MARCHAIS, Deputy Secretary of the PCF, spoke about the incident. He explains: "Those who have on their hands, the blood of this young person, it is the power with its politics, it is the management of the Régie with its politics (...) they are also those who have speculated a lot on leftist groups...".
