Henri Godard évoque la fascination de Céline pour Semmelweis
Sur le plateau de Bernard Pivot, Henri Godard, spécialiste de l'oeuvre de Céline, a publié dans les "Cahiers Céline" la thèse de médecine de l'écrivain, en 1924, consacrée à Semmelweis. H. Godard explique les raisons pour lesquelles Céline s'est passionné pour ce médecin hygiéniste hongrois auquel il s'est identifié : "La personnalité de Semmelweis exerçait une véritable fascination sur Céline, en tant que bienfaiteur de l'humanité, pas reconnu, et en butte à l'hostilité générale... Céline a dit lui-même dans une lettre qu'il aurait aimé être Semmelweis... C'était une forme d'idéal pour lui, dans lequel il se projetait..."
