Noël Favrelière

Former parachute non-commissioned officer in Algeria, Noël Favrelière deserted in 1956, horrified by torture. The only surviving deserter, he testified in numerous documentaries on the subject. Sentenced to death in France, he went into exile and was finally granted amnesty in 1966.
