A prototype telescopic fork is being tested by the Z team riders, Greg Lemond and Gilbert Duclos Lasalle, in preparation for the Paris Roubaix cycling race. The fork, built in the United States, is inspired by motorcycle-cross and ATV equipment with an oil bath shock absorber made of magnesium and titanium. The interview of the two cyclists, Greg LEMOND and Gilbert DUCLOS LASALLE is punctuated by the journalist’s comment on images of the bike and training.

La dernière innovation en date pour améliorer la vitesse des coureurs cyclistes a conquis le breton Bernard Hinault à qui l'inventeur s'était adressé. A tel point qu'il a même décidé de faire fabriquer cette pièce étonnante en Bretagne. L'invention est un plateau en forme de ballon de rugby, pointu à ses deux extrémité. Son nom : l'Ogival. Selon le cycliste breton, c'est une véritable révolution technique. C'est lors du dernier Paris - Nice que l'inventeur, un ancien menuisier parisien, propose au coureur de légende son plateau primé au concours Lépine. Très vite conquis, Bernard Hinault souhaite le faire fabriquer en Bretagne et rencontre alors Gérgory Martin. Cet autre passionné de vélo conçoit dans son garage des pièces de précision pour l'aéronautique, mais très vite il s'approprie le projet. Depuis, la pièce en aluminium a trouvé sa forme définitive pour les vélos de route comme pour les VTT. Ne reste plus qu'à convaincre les utilisateurs. L'équipe de La Française des Jeux et Andy Schleck ont eu droit à la primeur.

The report presents a new cycling helmet tested by the CRITT of Poitiers, (the Regional Centre for Innovation and Technology Transfer Sport Loisirs). The laboratory performs resistance tests on prototypes. Designed by the company Overforing of Cissé, the helmet in expanded polystyrene, lined with foam for comfort, has an aeration system with a studied air circulation. The stress tests are filmed in the laboratory, the technician then presents the results. Secondly, Dominique BODIN, from Overforing, describes the new head support system: the ergo lock.

The subject presents a technical innovation: the electric derailleur, a French invention. In the past, cyclists used to operate a mechanical derailleur fixed on the frame to pass the speed. The electric derailleur, installed on the handlebar, is equipped with two controls and works with a battery. The cyclist rider Patrice ESNAULT gives a demonstration by explaining its advantages, completed by the interview with Yvan KITTLER, MAVIC technician, the brand that developed this invention. This novelty is experienced by some riders, but is still too fragile to be used on the pavement.
