Jacques Demy évoque son film "Les Parapluies de Cherbourg" tourné en 1964 avec la jeune Catherine Deneuve, actrice encore débutante à l'époque, et dont la carrière a réellement démarré suite au succès phénoménal du film (notamment la Palme d'or à Cannes, et un Oscar du Meilleur film étranger à Hollywood NDD) : "Avec ce film, elle s'est mise à aimer le cinéma... Avant, elle n'y croyait peut-être pas beaucoup, elle n'était pas bien dans sa peau..."
Agnès Varda évoque sa première rencontre, savoureuse, avec la jeune Catherine Deneuve repérée à l'époque par son mari Jacques Demy pour le film "Les Parapluies de Cherbourg". Elle raconte comment la jeune actrice "enceinte jusqu'au cou", était coiffée d'une énorme "choucroute". Jacques Demy ne pouvant pas l'imaginer ainsi dans le film, Agnès Varda lui brosse les cheveux pour une photo (coiffure qu'elle gardera par la suite NDD).
