Beatification of Saint Teresa of Lisieux by John Paul II
Beatification of Saint Teresa of Lisieux by John Paul II
The Pope made Therese of Lisieux a "doctor of the church". More than one hundred thousand people attended today in Rome, at the proclamation of Thérèse de Lisieux (1873-1897) by John Paul II, as a doctor of the church. This title has only been awarded thirty-two times, and this is the third time it has been awarded to a woman. Comment on the images of this ceremony and brief excerpt from the Pope’s speech.
