The Senate passed Jacques Toubon’s bill on the defence of the French language at first reading. But when Franglais is indicted, does the reciprocal exist outside the English Channel? Do the English use and abuse French terms? British journalist Peter OBDAY (BBC) gives examples of French words used by the English: "restaurant", "appetizers"... And a British woman interviewed finds French "so beautiful and sexy", even if English has become the universal language.
