Olivier Py, playwright, actor and director of the National Drama Center of Orléans, rebels against the label of intellectual ("nerd") that we stick to him, saying that he never understood what definition we give to this word. He spends his days meeting people who think. He himself comes from a background that was not cultivated. The question is not whether a piece is "intellectual" but whether it is of quality. On this subject he declares to love the comedy, but to hate the theater of boulevard.
The director and playwright Olivier Py staged the play "La servante" (which he also wrote) at the Manufacture des Oeillets d'Ivry. This work lasts twenty-four hours, either in one time or in five parts. He himself welcomes the public at the entrance and explains that the theatre is a meeting place.
Olivier PY, director of the Orléans National Drama Centre, welcomes the undocumented workers on strike to support them in their efforts. He says he supports these people who are demanding the regularization of their situation.
The President of the Paca Regional Council, Christian Estrosi, met with Olivier Py, director of the Festival d'Avignon. The president of the region has decided to increase the subsidy of the region to the festival which suffers from the decrease of the subsidies of the various local authorities which support it. Christian Estrosi and Jean Marc Roubaud, President of Communauté d'Agglomération Grand Avignon, explain the importance of providing financial assistance to the Festival.
Olivier Py, new director of the Festival d'Avignon, travels the city to organize this event. We follow him on a visit to the courtyard of honour of the Palais des Papes where a show is being prepared, or during a working session in the Festival headquarters, the cloister St Louis. But also during a rehearsal of his next creation "Orlando and impatience". The price of tickets has been lowered because its goal is that this festival remains a popular event.
