A few hours before the announced demise of the President of the USSR Mikhail GORBACHEV, point on the various events of the late 80’s and early 90’s and 91 marking the end of the USSR for the benefit of the Commonwealth of Independent States. Commentary on archive images including on 11 March 1990 the proclamation of the independence of the Republic of Lithuania by the Parliament, the failed putsch of the Communist Conservatives in August 1991 and the decision on 8 December 1991 by the Presidents of Russia (Boris YELTSIN), from Ukraine (Leonid Kravchuk) and from Belarus (Stanislaw Shuchkievich) decide to found a Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS).
