The Mahabharata, adapted for the theatre by Peter BROOK and Jean-Claude CARRIERE, is performed at the Bouffes du Nord theatre in Paris. On the stage of this theatre, Jean-Claude CARRIERE explains what the Mahabharata is: "It is difficult to make conceive what the Mahabharata represents to a Frenchman...we are often in Western countries, cut off from our myths. We are not lucky enough to have an immense poem that reminds us of where we came from...which, every day, even today, would tell us about our origin. Indians have that chance."
