During the 15th stage of the Tour de France between Saint Girons and Cauterets, a serious fall took place in the descent of the col du Portet d'Aspet. Several riders were seriously injured, including Dante REZZE who rushed into a ravine. The Italian Fabio CASARTELLI did not survive his injuries despite the speed of rescue.
