Crisis at the Lorient inlet due to overfishing

Crisis at the Lorient inlet due to overfishing

In 2 days at the Lorient (Morbihan) auction, 6 tons of unsold Merlus were destroyed. This week, 7 tons of soles were frozen at the Guilvinec and 23 tons of bars at La Turballe, due to a lack of buyers. But paradoxically, despite this overfishing, the price of fish is still perceived as too high by consumers. Fishing is plentiful and auction prices in Lorient have been declining since the beginning of 2008. Comment on factual images, client microsidewalk and interviews Patrick BESNARD (seafarer) and Yves GUIRIEC (manager of the fishing port of Lorient).
