Jean Olivier Viout on the place of memory of Montluc

Thanks to the mobilization of former resistance fighters and the Jewish community, the Montluc prison has become a place of memory. The Attorney General Jean Olivier VIOUT, who led the construction of Montluc, explains that this place represents the conjunction of the destinies of the Jewish community and the community resisting the Nazi repression. Of the 37 cells open to the public, 36 will expose the fate of victims who stayed in the prison and the last will be dedicated to Klaus Barbie, convicted of crimes against humanity in Lyon.
