La canicule de 1998 en Ile-de-France a favorisé l'acquisition par les franciliens d'appareils de climatisation. Les climatiseurs mobiles ont été les plus prisés. Les voitures n'étaient pas en reste, la moitié des véhicules vendus étaient climatisés. Enquêtes auprès de vendeurs de climatiseurs, tous soulignent l'intérêt d'un tel achat.
