Nicolas Sarkozy in India for the country’s independence festivities
On an official visit to India, French President Nicolas SARKOZY, after a visit to the Taj Mahal, accompanied by members of his government, then attended the ceremonies of the 59th anniversary of the Republic marked by a festive and military parade commemorating the Independence of India in New Delhi, accompanied by Indian Prime Minister Manmohan SINGH. The Head of State then addressed the French expatriates in New Delhi in the evening and announced the strengthening of economic cooperation between the two countries "on the basis of fair competition".
