Joseph POLI receives Jean-Louis SERVAN SCHREIBER on the occasion of the opening in Paris of the 6th European congress of humanist psychology of which the journalist is one of the animators. He explains what humanistic psychology is: a method that uses all kinds of techniques to promote the development of the individual. It evokes the English historian Arnold Toynbee who denounced the "gap" that exists between the ability to develop our technical faculties and our dramatic psychological and intellectual stagnation: 'We don’t control our emotions well, but we know how to invent electronics. We are unable to behave regularly and at the same time we make atomic bombs," which he says can lead to disaster.
