Close-up on the Niger National Museum in Niamey, founded in 1958 and renamed the Boubou-Jama National Museum in 2008. It has the particularity of being a living museum, with artisans from all over the country installed on site to make art objects, costumes and jewellery in front of the eyes of visitors. It also houses a zoo, where animals representative of the country (mammals, wildlife, birds) are welcomed. In addition, the whole country participates in the maintenance of this institution, each inhabitant donating a minimal amount for it.
