Alfred Sauvy opposes systematic early retirement

Professor Alfred Sauvy, a demographer and sociologist, is opposed to the idea that we have to retire early in order to provide jobs for young people. For him, this is a matter of prejudice because "employment is an extremely elastic fact and if we want to give jobs to everyone we just have to expand the French economy..." He believes that older people should not be brutally excluded from society. For as long as they are fit for a specific job, they must be given the choice between leaving early with a modest standard of living or not.
