Address by General de Gaulle in Ludwigsburg

Address by General de Gaulle in Ludwigsburg

On 8 and 9 September, General de Gaulle was visiting the Federal Republic of Germany, accompanied by his Foreign Minister, Maurice Couve de Murville. This unprecedented event profoundly marks the Franco-German rapprochement. After travelling to Munich and Stuttgart, General de Gaulle gave a speech in German in Ludwigsburg for the German youth and in the presence of Heinrich Lubke, President of the German Federal Republic. The General congratulates the young Germans for coming from a great people who in its history have committed reprehensible and condemned faults, but a people who have also produced a fruitful wave of thought, science, art and philosophy.
