Stormy sequence on the plateau of Julien BESANCON between Claude ALLÈGRE (geochemist) and Haroun TAZIEFF (volcanologist) about a possible serious eruption of the volcano of Soufrière in Guadeloupe, the first being alarming, the second not believing in it. Claude ALLÈGRE, very vehement, accusing Haroun TAZIEFF of having made "mistakes" and "messed up", and rejecting his so-called too optimistic predictions: "We climbed on the volcano, and with your optimistic predictions, we almost left our skin." N.B. The facts will prove Haroun Tazieff right, the Soufrière showing up in the end very little, but, as a precaution, 73,000 people had nevertheless been evacuated...
