Bruno Latour, "quietism" in the face of ecological emergency
For Bruno LATOUR, the amounts to invest in ecology are much less important than those mobilized so far in nuclear weapons. It goes back to the precautionary principle, invoked during the Cold War for a rather weak threat and contrasts it with the current tragic situation of ecology, the risk of which is now proven. "When interests are very powerful, we stop applying them". He describes the wait-and-see attitude of our rulers as "a silent stoicism, a quietness". Bruno LATOUR finally criticizes France, whose academy of sciences is the only one in the world to welcome sceptics.
