Interviewé, Jacques Chirac, candidat RPR à l'élection présidentielle, parle de l'augmentation des salaires et du pouvoir d'achat. Il s'oppose à la pensée économique du gel ou de la diminution du pouvoir d'achat des salariés, pour lutter contre le chômage. Il explique : "...je dis ce n'est pas vrai, c'est une déduction absurde (...), sur le plan économique la fiche de paie n'est pas l'ennemi de l'emploi...".
