Mireille est famille d'accueil. Quand des enfants lui sont confiés, elle ne sait jamais pour combien de temps. Elle en a accueilli 43 au total. Elle garde le contact avec ses anciens protégés qui continuent de lui écrire chaque année. "On fait le maximum pour qu'ils soient heureux. On fait tout notre possible." dit-elle en embrassant Antoine, le dernier bébé confié à ses soins.
