For Henri Verneuil, there is no "one" way of doing cinema: "We do the cinema as we want to do it ... I had a long period where I started with the star, and then I start with the script, and the star comes into the story. But I’m not saying that this is the only way to make movies". He sees himself more as a storyteller, an "oriental storyteller".
