Nuremberg trial, hearing of 3 January 1946, with the appearance, as a witness, of Otto OHLENDORF (39), one of the former leaders of the Einsatzgruppen ("Intervention Groups"), units responsible for "liquidating" the enemies of the Reich (communists, Jews, partisans) at the rear of the front, during the invasion of the USSR, from June 1941. He was one of the main architects of the "Shoah by bullets" in Ukraine, in his role as commander of the Einsatzgruppe D, responsible for 90,000 assassinations, mainly of Jews, men, women and children. He showed no remorse and said that he had only done his duty... In 1948, during the trial of the Einsatzgruppen, during which he was the main accused, he was sentenced to death for war crimes and crimes against humanity, and executed by hanging three years later (SILENT document).
