Depuis la guerre du Golfe, en 1991, une nouvelle tendance est apparue dans le reportage de guerre, celle des journalistes "embarqués" ("embedded") avec les unités militaires, sur les différentes lignes de front. Aujourd'hui, c'est essentiellement en Afghanistan que s'exerce ce métier très risqué...
