In the harbour of Villefranche sur Mer, visit of the "laboratory buoy" initiated by Commander Cousteau. This "floating island", anchored at great depth in the Mediterranean Sea, houses research laboratories capable of measuring continuously, including winter in storm periods, the evolution of oceanographic data at a precise point. Commentary on archival images of the inventions and achievements of Commander Cousteau: in 1943 the autonomous diving suit that allowed the exploration of the seabed, the Calypso in 1950, the underwater television camera in 1952, the scootersailor in 1954, the diving saucer in 1959. Interview with Jacques-Yves COUSTEAU (who smokes a cigarette) about his underwater gear creations.
