Father André DUPEYRAT, a missionary returning from a stay in a tribe in New Guinea, is interviewed by Jacques CHABANNES about the anthropophagy among the Papuans, boasting of never having eaten human flesh when it seems to be the common lot of any individual staying with them. He explains to his interlocutor that the Papuans are not cannibals only to feed themselves but to acquire the virtues of the body of their victim.
