Aboriginal painter supervises work at the Quai Branly Museum
Aboriginal painter John MAWURNDJUL, who comes from northeastern Australia, usually paints on bark. He leaves room for painters who paint the ceiling according to his advice. The four colours represent the four basic elements while the crossed hatchings represent, following an ancestral technique, a sanctuary.
