Asked during his press conference about the disappearance on French soil of the Romanian writer Virgil Tanase, the President of the Republic François Mitterrand explains: "... this is a case that I have been following from day to day, if it was demonstrated the tragic hypothesis that Mr Tanase disappeared in order not to reappear, it would seriously undermine the nature of relations between Romania and France...".
