Nicolas Sarkozy advocates immediate punishment for young offenders
During a press conference, Interior Minister Nicolas SARKOZY takes stock of his action against delinquency. He believes he has provided a response to the rampant insecurity he found when he came to the government in 2002, even though he recognizes a sharp increase in acts of violence against people. In the face of juvenile delinquency, the minister advocates zero tolerance and declares: "When a juvenile commits an offence and is summoned before the court six months later, the pedagogical virtue of this conviction makes no sense and there must be an answer! The first precaution is the certainty of punishment". Illustration: excerpt from the press conference of Nicolas SARKOZY and images of young offenders.
