Laure ADLER talks with writer Edouard GLISSANT from Martinique. Edouard GLISSANT militates by his writing for a vision of a plural man, with multiple roots. He says: "Rootedness in the origins is not forbidden, provided that this rootedness is extended...to a conception of a network of roots that can make you flow to another place while returning home, and that the humanities hardly accept. But we will have to come to it, and I think it is only through the imagination that we will be able to settle this, not through ideological systems or systems of thought.'
