Un retraité, M. Bauzet, explique les tensions dans les campagnes suite à la Loi de 1905 : "Le village a été séparé en deux... Des riches propriétaires disaient à leur métayer que s'il envoyait ses enfants à l'école laïque, il serait foutu à la porte... Mais ça s'est calmé car certains se sont rebiffés... Certains étaient pour l'église et d'autres non, ça a toujours existé et existera toujours..."
