Le chanteur kabyle Idir explique que sa chanson "A vava inouva" décrit la vie des villages des montagnes du Djurdjura. Ce titre fait partie de l'album du même nom sorti en 1976. Il a eu un succès considérable en Algérie, en France et au-delà. En Kabylie, la chanson est à l'époque accueillie avec beaucoup d'émotion. Elle engendre à la fois un sentiment de reconnaissance d'une tradition profondément ancrée et un sentiment de nouveauté.
