Joint Parental Authority: New Rights and Duties of Spouses

The Act of 4 June 1970 on joint parental authority came into force on 1 January 1971. It introduces "parental authority" into the Civil Code in place of paternal power and the notion of head of household, and gives women a certain number of rights previously exercised by husbands. Report to the town hall of Antony on the occasion of the celebration of a wedding. The mayor of Antony, Georges SUANT, reads the provisions of the Civil Code on the respective rights and duties of spouses, in particular on the duty of spouses to ensure together the moral and material direction of the family, then pronounces the marriage, and commented on the new sections of the Code.
