Brasilia: Republican Guard and Mayor’s Interview

For the first anniversary of BRASILIA, the reporters of "Five Columns to One" went to visit the new federal capital of Brazil inaugurated on April 21, 1960 by the President of the Republic Juscelino KUBITSHEK. Brasilia, a completely new town located on a desert plateau at an altitude of 1200 m, was built on the edge of an artificial lake by the planner Lucio Costa and the architect Oscar NIEMEYER. Comments on images of the Republican Guard band and interview in French of the mayor of Brasilia. According to him, the city, which now has 150,000 inhabitants, is open to anyone who wants to help build it, not just Brazilians.
