For the first anniversary of Brasilia, the reporters of "Five Columns in the Spotlight" went to visit the new federal capital of Brazil inaugurated on 21 April 1960 by the President of the Republic Juscelino Kubitshek. Brasilia, a completely new city located on a desert plateau at 1200 meters above sea level, was built on the edge of an artificial lake by the town planner Lucio Costa and the architect Oscar Niemeyer.
