Mitterrand about German unity

During his traditional intervention during the garden party of the Elysée, President François MITTERRAND reaffirms that German unity is "in the logic of history" and that "would be vain and ultimately stupid and damaging to Europe’s future to oppose it". It stressed the need for a united Germany to guarantee its borders, particularly in the East.
