On 19 May 1958, at the Palais d'Orsay in Paris, on the occasion of a press conference given in the urgency of the events in Algeria, the General of GAULLE - who, a few days earlier, declared himself ready to assume the powers of the Republic - utters one of his most famous "short sentences": "Why do you want me to start a career as a dictator at 67 years of age?!..."
