On June 6, 1944, Marshal PETAIN visits Lyon ovationed by the crowd: He passes Place Bellecour standing in a car discovered, enters the town hall, accompanied by Doctor BERTRAND, mayor of Lyon and finally goes to the hospital of the Grange Blanche for a visit to the wounded.
Marshal Pétain, after having visited Toulouse and Montauban, went to Lyon where he was greeted by an enthusiastic crowd on the place de l'Hôtel-de-Ville. In Place Bellecour, he reviewed the armistice army units.
