Hoover’s closure in Longvic

Hoover’s closure in Longvic

In 1993, the vacuum cleaner manufacturer Hoover closed its factory in Longvic. Despite the trade union struggle, the activity was relocated to Scotland. 700 people worked on site, only sales and distribution stations will be retained. Since then, some 15 companies have set up shop in the old premises, employing nearly 200 people. In this area, a street bears the symbolic name of January 22, 1993, date of the agreement of the Scottish unions with the management that condemns the site of Longvic.
