Creating a Municipal Police: Debate at City Council

Le Mans municipal council voted to create a municipal police. For Christophe Counil, deputy PS in charge of public tranquility, this is "to have more police on the street, to be able to verbalize a number of additional offences, and to free up time for the national police to fight, for example, drug trafficking". Christelle Morançais, UMP municipal opposition, said: "The municipal police work in collaboration with the national police. It is not to replace or to add staff ... There is real work".
