What is mediaclip ?

mediaclip is an online content purchasing service exclusively offered to media and content creation professionals. Comprised of unique audiovisual archives belonging to the INA, mediaclip offers a wide-reaching catalogue of videos to tell stories and create.

1. About our content

1.1 What content is available on the website?

Videos available on mediaclip are all hand-picked by our editorial and documentalist team from the INA and partner audiovisual archives including historical collections of film and cinema press between 1939 and 1969, all audiovisual programmes broadcast on French public television between 1949 to present day.

1.2 What is a media clip?

A media clip refers to an audiovisual sequence which you have selected on the website, appearing on the purchase order and paid for in line with our general terms and conditions of sale. The full catalogue of clips which we make available at mediaclip is expanded on a daily basis.

1.3 What is the calendar?

The calendar is a free editorial guide tool which we have developed for your daily use. It allows you to get ahead through a selection of videos which resonate with topical events and subjects in the news.

1.4 What is a media file?

A media file is a collection comprising a maximum of 20 media clips, specially created by our editorial team and concerning a news subject or economic, political, sporting or cultural event.

1.5 What if I can’t find a video?

The website contains a selection of segmented and editorial audiovisual sequences from the INA audiovisual archives available for professional users. If you can’t find the media clip you need, you can make a search request using the form available under the Contact Us section.

2. About rights of use

2.1 What rights are assigned with the Media Clips ?

All of our media clips are supplied with rights of use for the whole world and the following uses (licences): Digital Publication: use for editorial purposes for 5 years, to inform the general public or illustrate the news. Digital Corporate / Brand Content: use for presentation and promotion of the image, brand, history, commercial ethos for 1 year. Cultural Licence: use for cultural purposes and restricted to members of the cultural network. Digital and Event broadcasts, valid for 5 years.

2.2 What guarantees are provided over the videos ?

All of the media clips available on the website have been selected for immediate use and for all of the operating rights available on the website. Our media clips come with a turnkey licence which guarantees their use as part of your project subject to respecting our General Terms and Conditions of Sale.

2.3 How can I use the media clips ?

You can use the media clips after purchasing the corresponding rights of use for the project you indicated at the time of placing an order. The intended use of the media clips should respect the general terms and conditions of sale which you accepted.

2.4 What is a client project ?

The client project refers to the project you indicated in your purchase order: content illustrated by the media clip(s) (such as an article, blog, Facebook page) or a welcome publication integrating one or more clips (such as a documentary, audiovisual or multimedia module). You should also indicate the recipient of your project: a brand if you produce content on behalf of an advertiser (a beneficiary) or yourself if you are the editor or distributor of videos you use. You may use the Media Clip as part of a single Project for a single Right of Use.

2.5 Is there a purchase order which can be viewed online ?

Each order leads to the issue of a purchase order which provides a breakdown of your purchases, notably the media clips purchased and their terms of use. Each purchase order can be downloaded in PDF format. Your history of purchase orders is available from your user account under the section entitled My Orders.

3. About prices

3.1 What are the prices for transfer of rights ?

There are two categories of prices for media clips: Classic and Sport. These vary depending on the rights of use you want to purchase: Digital publication, Digital Corporate/Brand, Cultural Licence. A default price - corresponding to Digital Publication - is displayed next to each Media Clip.

3.2 What services are included in the price of media clips ?

Our prices include the selection of media clips by our editorial team, the assignment of a turnkey licence, technical supply, sound and image restoration which may be required for their creation and the payment of fees to rights holders having been involved, directly or indirectly, in the production and creation of audiovisual programmes.

3.3 What are the payment methods available for media clips ?

You can make payment for orders of clips by bank card or as part of a package if you have subscribed to one of our package deals (Start, Classic, Premium or Bespoke). When making payment as part of a package, the total amount of your order exclusive of VAT for media clips will be automatically deducted from the remaining balance of your package. No bank details are entered or stored after transactions.

3.4 What are the payment methods available for packages ?

Payments for Start, Classic and Premium packages can only be made by card.

3.5 Is VAT applicable to purchases ?

VAT may be applicable over payments, media clips or packages made by card depending on the legislation applicable to you. VAT rules are determined on the basis of information which you indicated at the time of placing an order, the place of residence of the company to be invoiced and, depending on your situation, for French and European clients, your company incorporation number and/or Intracommunity VAT number. The invoice issued for each order will indicate the VAT rate applied.

3.6 Is there an invoice which can be viewed online ?

All of your invoices are available in PDF format from your user account under My Invoices.

4. About packages

4.1 What is a package ?

A Package refers to a predefined fixed-rate total when ordering and purchasing Media Clips available on the Website. A bonus will be added to this total corresponding to a percentage of the total Package price. This bonus is granted at no cost by the INA when purchasing a Package. Packages make it easier to purchase Media Clips since the total amount exclusive of VAT for each Media Clip ordered will be automatically deducted from your remaining balance, without needing to provide any other payment information.

4.2 Are there differences between packages ?

All Packages give you access to all of our Media Clips, all Rights of Use available on the website and all of our services. The difference between the various Packages is their total amount and the bonus amounts. The higher the value of your Package, the more you save when purchasing Media Clips.

4.3 What is the remaining balance of my package and how can I track this ?

The remaining balance of your Package includes the total amount exclusive of VAT of the Start, Classic, Premium or Bespoke Package you subscribed, including the bonus we offered. You can consult and track the remaining balance of your Package in your Account under “My Package” and when placing an order under “My basket”.

4.4 How can I renew a package ?

You can renew your Package by subscribing a similar Package or a different Package. You must renew a Package before the expiry date of the last Package subscribed, namely within one year following payment of your last subscription. If you do this, the remaining balance of your Packages will be accumulated.

4.5 Do you reimburse the remaining balance of any unused part of a Package?

You have a period of one year in which to use your Package. Once this expires, you will not be entitled to any reimbursement, whatever the remaining balance. 5. About subscriptions

5.1 Who is this website for ?

The website is intended for users who are acting in a professional capacity on their own behalf or that of a Beneficiary and developing a project which includes our Media Clips: online press publishers, journalists, communication agencies, producers, broadcasters, distributors, researchers, creators, authors, directors, etc.

5.2 What are the advantages of signing up to the website ?

It is possible to view the website whether or not you are logged in. By registering with the website, you will be guaranteed use of all of the website functions, as well as being able to consult and download media clips. By signing up you can also save videos in your favourites, access your client account and the various sections of your account. Also, by signing up you can indicate your editorial preferences to receive thematic newsletters.

5.3 How do I create an account ?

You can create an account by completing the registration form. Your account will be created automatically once all mandatory fields have been completed and confirmed.

5.4 How can I update my profile details ?

You simply need to log in to your account and change the personal details which you entered when signing up.

5.5 How can I find my password ?

You can find or change your password under My Account. If you have forgotten your password, you can use the forgotten password function to ask for a password reset.

5.6 What happens after unsubscribing ?

You can cancel your subscription from your user account. You will need to confirm your ubsubscription request. Once this confirmation has been made, all of your account details will then be deactivated including your favourites, basket, order history, invoice history and any remaining balance for your package.

6. About deliveries

6.1 What is the computer configuration required to use the PAV website ?

No particular computer configuration is necessary to use the website. Of course, the faster your internet connection, the shorter the download time will be regardless of the web browser used.

6.2 What are the online viewing formats available ?

There are two online viewing formats available: 1. The simple viewing format accessible from the website video player. This viewing format includes an MPEG4 format including data in H264 video format and AAC audio format. The simple viewing format has a video playback speed of around 1000 kb/s and audio speed of around 128 kb/s. 2. The demo download format which can be downloadable from each product form. The demo-video uses the same format as the classic format and includes a low-definition watermark and ID notice to help identify the media clip more easily. The video and audio playback speeds are identical as for the classic format: 1000 kb/s for videos and 128kb/s for audio.

6.3 What is the format of products delivered ?

The delivery format is MPEG4 format including data in H264 video format and AAC audio format. The delivery file is a progressive 10-14 mb/s format and has a playback speed of around 8000 kb/s and audio speed of around 256 kb/s.

6.4 What is the delivery method?

You can download media clips purchased from the download link accessible within your user account under My Orders. This link is also included in the order confirmation email we send after each payment.

6.5 In the English version, why is there an automatic translation system?

The INA catalogue contains more than 12 million hours of videos, with daily updates. It is therefore not possible to manually translate the whole catalogue. Therefore we have set up an automatic translation system for the Clip description.
