As a candidate for the presidential election and for his re-election, President Jacques Chirac went to Mont Saint-Michel, where he unveiled his policy project for the environment and ecology. He thus proposed a humanist ecology that did not serve as an alibi and wished the creation of a great ministry.

The President of the Republic François Hollande went to Mont Saint-Michel, where he officially came to close the work that made the monument its maritime character. In his speech he announced the maintenance of the financial aid of the State, in particular in terms of tourism and environmental development of the famous bay.
