Christian Boltanski was born on September 6, 1944 in Paris. Marked in his childhood by the Shoah, the visual artist takes his first steps in art at 14. Self-taught, Boltanski first devoted himself to painting and then turned to other media to express his art such as photography, sculpture, sound testimony, assemblages or films. Through his works, Boltanski evokes universal and timeless subjects: life, death, memory, oblivion. In 2020, the Centre Pompidou is devoting an exhibition to him: Faire son temps.
