Bernadette Chirac

Born on May 18, 1933 in Paris, Bernadette Chirac was the wife of President Jacques Chirac. A woman of character, she did not hesitate to influence her husband especially in 1997 when she tried to dissuade him from dissolving the National Assembly. She is the General Councillor of Corrèze and leads many charitable actions, the most famous of which is the Yellow Coins. In 2007, she gave her public support to the candidacy of Nicolas Sarkozy, who was her husband’s sworn enemy.
