Garry DAVIS has invested several rooms of the United States hotel, boulevard du Montparnasse in Paris, in order to organize the movement "citizens of the world" and recruit new members.
Meeting at the Vél'd'hiv where the first citizen of the world, Garry DAVIS, surrounded by his supporters, including Abbé PIERRE, came to proclaim, with applause, his choice for peace.
Several scientists formed a group in Chicago after the Second World War. Their work consisted in providing elements to the rulers, to defend the non-use of atomic energy for military purposes. Their purpose, like other movements, was not to appeal to the public, but rather to the governments themselves. Eugene RABINOWITCH, creator in the aftermath of Hiroshima of the "Pugwash" movement, declares: "We no longer have much time to put the house of Humanity in order, because we live in the danger of an atomic war".
Robert OPPENHEIMER, "father" of the A bomb, is interviewed by Etienne LALOU who asks him the following question: "By finding a way to disintegrate matter, man has discovered a secret that is beyond him. He’s digging his own grave. What do you think?". The American physicist answers with a heavy tone, in French: "It is quite possible. I am not optimistic, but I maintain a hope... That we will find the way, and that by understanding all the dangers, we will find common sense, and that we will create a kind of human community".
