Interview with Marcello Mastroianni on corruption in Italy
Christine OCKRENT talks with Marcello MASTROIANNI about the Italian political crisis and more particularly the corruption of politicians. The Italian actor is indignant but does not believe in a reaction from society. - Marcello MASTROIANNI: "We have always heard that the Italians do not trust their government, which benefits without shame. We always wondered how it was possible that he could do all this in the sunlight." "It became like a life system, corruption invaded everything. That is the great responsibility of those in power... We even said that even Mussolini had never done that. Fifteen years ago, in New York, I was told twice: "you’re maffia people". "Then I see important politicians living in villas, in triplex photographed by helicopter". "The people are very angry, surprised...it would take the barricades, really".
