Transhumance in Short Bay

Transhumance in Short Bay

In the Bay of Somme, for a few years, the tradition of transhumance of pre-salted sheep across the bay has resumed. In autumn, they cross the bay in several days to reach the sheepfold before their meadows are invaded by the high tides. The flock is shaken for a day of walking, guided by its shepherd Xavier FOURNIER, who speaks of the risks incurred by the pregnant sheep and the joys of his trade. He is accompanied by dogs and riders. Bernard BIZET, breeder, explains the return of the sheep to the bay and the transhumance: breeding is profitable again.
